Website to Connect Marginalized Artisans to Global Market
During my fellowship with Fashion4Freedom, I interviewed individual Vietnamese artisans and created a website. With a background in Anthropology, this project involved interviews and on-site visits with the artisans to get their firsthand accounts of the history of the crafts. All the photographs and videos were personally taken. I would like viewers to have access to this information. Many of the crafts represented on the website once sustained livelihoods and defined cultural identities in Vietnam. The goal is to ultimately provide the option for individuals to set up a trip to visit these artisans and an Artisan Center, which Fashion4Freedom hopes to establish in the near future. This would create a travel venue and help the artisan community in Hue economically.
